SPACE-IR Camera

High-performance 640 by 480 infrared (IR) camera for use in space environments.

SPACE-IR Camera

SPACE-IR CameraThis Space-IR camera has successfully flown on two shuttle missions (STS-128 and STS-131). During the STS-131 mission, tracking of the ISS began at 40 km which is when the camera was turned on. Longer ranges can be achieved with the use of different lenses. Flight video is available on request.

This camera can be used for calculating range and bearing for a chase vehicle approaching a target. It can also be used for ranging information between satellites. The camera is also useful to provide a thermal analysis of the outside of a heat generating object in space.

Neptec can provide a processor card with the camera and is developing the software needed to calculate range and bearing in real-time.
