LROS is a radiation-hardened, compact, low power smart imaging device.

Its form factor makes it ideal for small and microsatellite platforms. By performing customized image processing functions on-board, it is well suited for applications where processing power is a limited resource. Baselined functionality includes region of interest sub sampling, centroiding and data compression.
Conceived for the Mars Sample Return mission, it can be deployed into high or low earth orbit. LROS can accommodate a variety of optical configurations permitting long range object localization, situational awareness or earth observation. LROS is under development in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency.
